SGD corporate graphical design featuring Coventry Cathedral

Im always excited to get my teeth into an interesting project & this was most certainly the case when I was asked to embark on a corporate photography projected designed by the leading Coventry  firm of accountants and tax advisers, Spencer Gardner Dickins (SGD).

SGD had decided they wanted to have complete overhaul of their branding, logos & website.

Working alongside SGD & their web-designer, we were firstly able to provided the corporate photography needed for their new “our team” section of their website. Although not entirely professional to have a favourite member of staff, I’m sure I’ll be forgiven for saying I had a slight soft spot for Reggie.  Head over to their page if you’d like to see why 🙂

The second part to their project was on a slightly larger scale. Dotted around their large offices located at Innovation village in Coventry, are water colour paintings of Historic & iconic buildings in & around the Warwickshire & Birmingham area. This pictures represents some of the geographical area that SDG provides their professional services to.  Their design remit would see these 22 images being updated with new modern photographic images to fit beautifully in line with the new corporate colour scheme & graphics.

Over a two day period we drove around visiting 22 iconic locations, photographing the stunning old & new architectural building & structures we are lucky enough to have in Coventry, Birmingham, Startford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Kenilworth & Leamington Spa. Ranging from Castles & Cathedrals to Cobbled Streets, Librarys to Locks & much much more.

This was such an exciting design & photographic project to be involved in & I can’t wait to see the final canvases that will be produced.

Here a few of my favourite images.

Why my blog has been missing out !

Over the last year as well as continuing with my Wedding and Corporate photography Stuart & I have added a new little addition to our clan.

Our beautiful daughter Livy was born last Feb & of course I’ve taken every opportunity to take photos of her to reminisce over (or to embarrass her no doubt 🙂 ) when she is older. Livy, since the day she was born, has been the happiest smiliest baby one could wish for … long may it continue.

Here are a few of my favourite pictures of Livy and the reason why my poor old blog has been neglected for the last year!😊

Victoria Jane Photography -A short preview of my wedding photography

Victoria Jane Photography -A short preview of my wedding photography

Wow were has the time gone? My poor old blog has been rather neglected over the last year … although for a good reason 🙂 I decided to take a little less work on so I could play Mummy a little bit more to our new beautiful daughter Livy, who has just turned 1 !

Were to start ? I have so many fabulous weddings to add and some really exciting corporate jobs I’ve had the honour to photograph over the last year. But Rome wasn’t built in a day and so rather than try rushing to post everything I thought Id have a look back over the last year or so and design a little video showing some of my favourite wedding photographs.

Being a professional Wedding photographer is such a wonderful privilege.  Not only do I get to be part of your special day (& maybe even eat a slice of cake!) but I get to create memories for you that will last a life time… precious memories that you’ll be able to look back on in years to come and smile, and maybe even shed a tear, reminiscing about your amazing day. And I have been lucky enough to have been allowed to create those irreplaceable memories, frozen in time, for hundreds and hundreds of lovely couples.

So how can I choose my favourite images as I must have an archive of 100’s of thousands of images.  Well the honest answer is I couldn’t, as I have too many :-),  so instead I chose a handful of images which hopefully captures who I am a photographer and give you an idea about how passionate I am about what I can do for you. What ever your preferred style, relaxed reportage photography, more classic photography or even unique contemporary photography & I happy to listen to your hopes for your Special day.

I’d love to hear from you if you have an up coming Wedding and would like a professional photographer. From small intimate registry office weddings to Grand Stately Homes, Id love to be part of your special day, capturing & creating life long memories for you, and even more favourite photographs for me!

Urban Chic! | Contemporary Portraits by Victoria Jane Photography

Last week I got together with a few professional photographer colleagues (including Hannah Duffy from Cambridge and Lisa Scott from Rugby) to share ideas and experiences. That’s one of the nice things about good pro photographers – they aren’t afraid of the competition, they realise the benefits of working together to assist each other and share ideas! Anyway, we took the opportunity to do some ‘urban’ style photography using a professional model called Holly. We each had our own ideas and styles. Here are some of my shots after I applied a touch of editing trickery …….

Regular readers of this blog and people who know me will realise that this isn’t the sort of photography that I do all of the time but I think many of you would be surprised at the variety of work that I do take on. After all, even though I’m known as a wedding photographer around 25-30% of the work I take on is corporate and family portrait based. If you fancy having your own contemporary portraits, perhaps a street theme or something else of an artistic nature and you’ve got an idea of what you’d like to achieve but don’t know how, please give me a call (07739096632).

Meanwhile, I love to receive comments on my posts. Please take a moment to add a comment (click below). I will always approve sensible comments and do my best to reply and put the comments ‘live’ within a few days.

Corporate Photography by Victoria Jane Photography | Professional Photography for Business Websites

If you’re a regular visitor to my blog you could be forgiven to think that I’m a wedding and family photographer, and that’s it! …….. Not So!

This week, for example, I’m doing four sessions of Corporate photography for two different businesses in Coventry. They both wanted some professional photographs to put on their websites in order to display their products clearly and to showcase their companies or personnel.

Unfortunately, for reasons of commercial confidentiality I often can’t display my corporate photography images on this blog, but occasionally I can. Here’s an interesting example of some work I’ve done this week working along-side two other professionals: Zoe from ZHR Marketing in Rugby and Leon from First Image Design in Coventry. All of the photography was done by me …….

This is a copy of the advert.

This company, Lawton Tubes, wanted some professional images of their products (Copper Pipe) and of their owner, Oliver Lawton, to use in their own adverts and emails/websites but they also wanted professional graphic design layout expertise and professional copy writing in order to get their message across as effectively as possible. Zoe (ZHR Marketing) did all of the copy (the text!) and Leon (First Image) did the layout whilst all of the photographs were taken, edited and resized for the web by me.

Hopefully, you’ll agree that we make a good team !

If you have a business or organisation that needs a fresh look, some new professional photographs for your website or for perhaps some new flyers please give me a call on 07739096632. I could simply take the photographs or I could arrange for the expertise of other colleagues to provide a more complete design and copy service.

SWPP Gold Awards Gained by Vicky Hubbard of Victoria Jane Photography

The SWPP is a worldwide association for professional photographers. As an SWPP member I am entitled to enter my photographs into their monthly competitions. It isn’t something that I do very often but during October and November 2010 I decided to have a go. I was awarded two gold standard awards and umpteen silver awards in all the categories that I entered. Gold standard images are judged by the SWPP to be of the ‘highest standard’ and are the only ones published in their ‘Professional Imagemaker’ magazine. Silver awards are judged to be ‘above standard’ with the potential to be upgraded on further assessment. Here’s a sneaky look at my two Gold Award winning entries …….

…… You’ll see that I don’t just photograph weddings!

I took the above photo when on safari in the Samburu region of Kenya. It won gold in November 2010. I spotted these elephants in the distance (about 500 yards away!) against the sunset and thought that it would make a wonderful silhouette, especially with the acacia tree to add some dimension. The sunset really was bright orange but I had to be quick because within only 5 minutes it was totally dark!

Regular blog readers might recognise this interior photograph that I took at Ragley hall as part of Kate and Adam’s wedding. It won gold in it’s category in December 2010. Anyone who has visited Ragley hall near to Alcester will know that it has some magnificent interior decor and furnishings, not least the murals in this hallway and landing leading up to the private quarters just outside the grand hall. Photographers will know how dark it is in there with light and shadow caused by exterior light from only one direction so I had to use my 5DMkii (one of my back-up wedding cameras) on top of a tripod and some wide open apertures with long exposures to get this image (not one for a digital compact!).

If you’d like to see some more award winning images please keep an eye open on this blog over the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, you’ll now know that I take photographs in all sorts of situations and at all kinds of events. Obviously, I do plenty of weddings but I also cover parties, celebrations of all kinds and corporate work such as product or personnel shots for web sites and brochures. I only use the best Canon equipment and I’m totally professional in my approach.

If you have any need for an ‘award-winning’ 🙂 professional photographer for your wedding, celebration or corporate needs please do call me on 07739096632.

General Blog Update

Ok, so you’ve not heard from me for a while ……Sorry about that!

Is it because I’ve been doing nothing and had nothing to say? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Far from it, in-fact. I’ve been SO BUSY that I simply haven’t had the time to tell you what I’ve been doing. Anyway, I’m now taking a break from the photography for a few days and I’m going to be adding a few more images from some of the events and weddings I’ve been doing in the last two months. I’ve been photographing weddings, Christmas parties, doing family photo shoots and doing some corporate photography in Warwickshire and Coventry …. and winning several awards for photos that I’ve been entering into international competitions for the SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) experts to judge!  More blog posts with more images to look at will follow VERY soon …..

Ragley Hall’s Spectacular Fireworks Display | Corporate Event Photographs by Victoria Jane Photography

It’s 1am & I’ve had a somewhat busy day  …

…My day started at Coombe Abbey in Coventry where I was photographing Linda & Ian’s Wedding.  We had a wonderful day & the weather was amazing.  We managed to do plenty of outside photographs in the stunning grounds and we even went on a ghost tour which isn’t the best thing to do when you’ve got such an active imagination as I have! Will I sleep tonight? Photos of the wedding to follow.

Once I had left Coombe, I then made a mad dash over to the stunning Ragley Hall to photographs their amazing fireworks display. I took the opportunity to take Gary and Jessica with me so they could enjoy the fireworks too (without Gary having to have a camera in his hand for once!). Jessica doesn’t normally like loud noises so it was a bit of a risk but she loved it and at the end of the display was asking for ‘more bangs daddy please’…..

There were children’s fairground rides, a live fireshow, numerous food stalls, a huge bonfire & Touch FM was there to create a great party atmosphere!

Here are just a few of my favourite images from the night…….

I have been lucky enough to photograph a number of events at Ragley Hall this Year. This event was photographed on behalf of Ragley Hall’s Operations Manager & Front of House Supervisor. I have many more images to forward to them & I hope they enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed attending the event & photographing them.

If you have a special event in Warwickshire or the West Midlands that you would like photographing then please give me a call on 07739 096 632.

Macmillan Pride of Coventry & Warwickshire – Awards Evening

– Tuesday 2nd November 2010

I was honoured to be given another fantastic opportunity to photograph an event on behalf of  Macmillan Cancer support earlier this week.

Tuesday 3rd November saw the 2010 Awards ceremony hosted at the beautiful Mallory Court Country House Hotel near to Leamington Spa.

The award’s evening was held to recognise the fantastic (and, at times, somewhat mad) achievements of a number of inspirational individuals and organisations who have helped to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Please click on the following link to view the short video below which shows the events of the evening.

Well done and congratulations to Sharon Battersby, Sarah Darby, & Karen Shortt  for the organisation of such a fantastic evening for an amazing cause.

This is not the first event that I’ve attended on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support this year and it is a charity that I will continue to support (often in conjunction with Stuart Kettell of Kettell Video Productions) who is a prolific fund raiser (award-winner on the night) for Macmillan and a great friend and colleague. Well done Stuart and all of the other award-winners on the night!

OWF Event Update | Saturday 16th October at the Hilton Hotel

You can access all but the whole-group shot by clicking here and entering your password. If you wish to view the whole group shot you will need to consult your event photography organiser (who was Margaret Atwood) please.

I hope you like viewing the images. They are available to purchase if you wish. They can be produced as professional lab quality prints (or other products such as canvas prints).
