Wedding Photography at Swallows Nest Barn | Lisa & Adam’s Wedding

Wedding Photography at Swallows Nest Barn | Lisa & Adam’s Wedding

I love photographing at wedding venues across Warwickshire and all over the Midlands & it’s nice to get the opportunity to go to a new venues. I hadn’t photographed a wedding at Swallows Nest Barn before so I was looking forward to exploring around the venue 🙂

Lisa & Adam had booked Stuart & I to photograph & film their wedding. They had chosen to get married at St Alphegs in Solihull. St Alphege’s is not only a beautiful 800 year old Grade 1 Listed church but it also holds a personal significance for myself as it was my grandparent’s parish church.

After a beautiful service, a number of more traditional small family group photographs Lisa & Adam had asked during our pre wedding meeting if I would photograph & edit a special confetti shot – like an example they’d seen on my website from another wedding. Of course I was more than happy to oblige 🙂

Lisa & Adam’s wedding reception was being held at Swallows Nest Barn, which is a reinstated 19th Century barn – steeped in character and set in a valley of private farm land in the heart of the beautiful Warwickshire countryside.

Although a tad windy the sun was shining and with a quick change for Lisa from her beautiful bridal shoes into slightly more practical white wellies :-).  Lisa, Adam, Stuart & I went off to explore. After spending a little bit of time photographing some lovely couple shots using the pretty  backdrop of the wooded area, green fields & little brook we headed back to the barn for the remaining group shots.

Lisa & Adam had asked Stuart & I to film & photograph their wedding from the bridal prep through until the 1st dance. The speeches encompassed every emotion & I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room!

The evening kicked off with the cutting of the cake straight into Lisa & Adam’s 1st dance.

At the pre wedding meeting Lisa & Adam had also asked if I would mind going out with them, early evening, to the corn fields at the front of the Swallows Nest Barn.  With some ideas in mind, a little entourage of  inquisitive children in tow & my camera bag of random lights, umbrella and sparklers,  we headed off down the lane. As the evening drew to an end my head was already excitedly buzzing with the photographic edits, particularly the confetti shot & night time images.

Below are just a few wedding photographs captured from Lisa & Adams special day. Their full gallery of images can be viewed in the Client gallery. Please ask Lisa & Adam for their password.

Coombe Abbey Wedding photography | Marie & Julian’s Wedding

Coombe Abbey Wedding photography | Marie & Julian’s Wedding

Julian & Marie had chosen to have a Coombe Abbey Wedding, holding their special day in Coombe’s Marque on the beautiful East terrace.

I’m always very grateful when i receive a personal recommendation for my wedding photography 🙂 & after been given my details from his friend, Julian had called to talk about booking me as their wedding photographer.

The first thing I remember about Julian was his infectious laugh & how easy it was to chat with him. I knew this would be a lovely wedding to be part of. After we had gone through what he was looking for he also mentioned that he and Marie had wondered about having a wedding videographer.

As well as being Married, Stuart (kettell video productions) & I have worked together for years. Filming & photographing hundreds of weddings together throughout the whole of the UK including many Coombe Abbey Wedding’s.  To have another wonderful opportunity & to both be chosen to be part of Julian’s & Marie’s wedding was great 🙂

What a lovely day -as Stuart & I arrived at Coombe Abbey the Sun was shining, the weather was great & Julian didn’t stop smiling from the moment I saw him step out of the limousine. Marie & her ladies were equally as smiley. 😀

Julian & Marie has chosen to have their entire day filmed & photographed & afterward had asked me to produce a beautiful wedding album.

Below are just a few pages from the gorgeous wedding album I designed for then… & going by the bottle of champaign & very delicious box of choccies that they brought us as thank you gift… they were delighted by their wedding images, album & video.

Victoria Jane Photography -A short preview of my wedding photography

Victoria Jane Photography -A short preview of my wedding photography

Wow were has the time gone? My poor old blog has been rather neglected over the last year … although for a good reason 🙂 I decided to take a little less work on so I could play Mummy a little bit more to our new beautiful daughter Livy, who has just turned 1 !

Were to start ? I have so many fabulous weddings to add and some really exciting corporate jobs I’ve had the honour to photograph over the last year. But Rome wasn’t built in a day and so rather than try rushing to post everything I thought Id have a look back over the last year or so and design a little video showing some of my favourite wedding photographs.

Being a professional Wedding photographer is such a wonderful privilege.  Not only do I get to be part of your special day (& maybe even eat a slice of cake!) but I get to create memories for you that will last a life time… precious memories that you’ll be able to look back on in years to come and smile, and maybe even shed a tear, reminiscing about your amazing day. And I have been lucky enough to have been allowed to create those irreplaceable memories, frozen in time, for hundreds and hundreds of lovely couples.

So how can I choose my favourite images as I must have an archive of 100’s of thousands of images.  Well the honest answer is I couldn’t, as I have too many :-),  so instead I chose a handful of images which hopefully captures who I am a photographer and give you an idea about how passionate I am about what I can do for you. What ever your preferred style, relaxed reportage photography, more classic photography or even unique contemporary photography & I happy to listen to your hopes for your Special day.

I’d love to hear from you if you have an up coming Wedding and would like a professional photographer. From small intimate registry office weddings to Grand Stately Homes, Id love to be part of your special day, capturing & creating life long memories for you, and even more favourite photographs for me!

Michelle and Sam’s Wedding at Coombe Abbey

Michelle and Sam booked me to photograph their wedding what seemed to be an age ago.  Their wedding was to be held at Coombe Abbey in Coventry.  Michelle is the head receptionist at Coombe so I was over the moon when they chose me to capture their special day, especially with the number of weddings and photographers she sees 🙂

Michelle and Sam had also booked Stuart to film their wedding and Gemma came out to 2nd shoot for me.

We made our way to Michelle’s house, and even though the weather was wet, cold and gloomy, the girls spirits were certainly not.  After photographing the morning’s preparation and getting the first sneeky peek at michelle’s beautiful dress, accessories and stunning flowers (by flowers by michelle) we headed to Coombe to meet Sam and all his Groomsmen.

michellesamblogPage001

michellesamblogPage002I always find time feels like it speeds up the nearer we get to the ceremony time and, with what only seemed like a blink of an eye, Michelle was arriving in style with her dad in the lovely vintage Rolls from The Wedding barn.

msblog 2Page003Michelle and Sam were married in the Abbeygate and after the service and signing of the register, Michelle, Sam, family & friends headed outside to enjoy the good old tradition of covering them in colourful confetti 🙂

msblog 2Page004

The weather couldn’t make it’s mind up as to whether it was going to rain or not so we quickly headed off with Michelle and Sam to grab a few photos of the two of them with the car & beautiful backdrop of the front of Coombe, which also meant Sam got to have a drive around in the car 🙂

msblog 2Page005

Just as we finished the photos with the car, as if on cue, the heavens opened so Stuart, Gemma & I  headed back inside to give Michelle & Sam a few minutes to have a drive around in the car & to start organising the people for the group photos.  We were lucky enough to have one of the indoor rooms available for the group shots and again, just as we had finished the smaller family groups, as if on cue, the rain stopped leaving us just about enough time to squeeze in the aerial shot of everyone, that they had hoped for.

msblog 2Page006

We stole Michelle and Sam away for a few more photos, well who could resist with Michelle looking so stunning… Sorry Sam, as dapper as you looked I’m afraid you were out-shone by Michelle & we captured one of my favourite image of their wedding…the full length image of Michelle standing in the window with the back of her dress draped beautifully behind her.

msblog 2Page007

The day just seemed to fly by and as we finished our last photos of them we headed to photograph the cloisters before guests sat down for the Wedding breakfast.  We captured the speeches, I’m not sure whether Sam spent more time laughing or hiding his face tee hee.

msblog 2Page008

Finally the evening came round oh too quickly and after cutting the cake and 1st dance,  Michelle had planed (or she thought she had 😉 ) that she would leave the room with Sam for a few minutes & when they came back in to the room everyone would be wearing masks of  Sam’s face …. what she hadn’t anticipated was that when they returned all the guests were wearing masks 🙂 but they weren’t just Sams face but MICHELLE as well 🙂 … what a brilliant idea!  I think at one point even Stuart and I had masks on which did make it a little tricky to see through my camera’s eye piece lol.

We said our goodnights and headed off home, a touch jealous as Michelle and Sam were heading off to Walt disney world for their honeymoon … however this did give us an idea for a final page for their album …

One of my other passions as well as photographing is drawing and design so as a little extra we suggested to them, that if they took some pictures they liked whilst in florida, I would make a montage page of images from their honeymoon for the end of their album… It also gave me change to design a little something special & illustrate a couple of extra little characters 🙂

Tess & Tom | Wedding photography at The Windmill Village |

Tess and Tom are such a lovely couple that we couldn’t help but smile most of the day.  The wedding ceremony and celebrations all took place at The Windmill Village Hotel, Coventry. We were photographing their wedding right from Tess getting ready until late into the evening celebrations. Tess & Tom were very keen to have not only group & posed shots but as much reportage style photography as time allowed … needless to say, with guests enjoying themselves & the weather on our side, guests spent as much time chatting, drinking & laughing outside, as they could … so plenty of photo opportunities 🙂 !!  Here are just a few photos from their day! ……..

If you are thinking of getting married and you want a fun photographer who offers flexibility along with creativity please give me a call on 07739096632.

Katie and Stan | Wedding Photography in the village of Grindleford in the Peak District

This was a very busy weekend of wedding photography for us and we were really pleased to have such an enjoyable start. Katie and Stan were married at the Maynard Arms hotel in the lovely village of Grindleford in the Peak district near to Sheffield on Saturday.

We were originally recommended to Katie and Stan by a guest who attended a wedding that we photographed at the Charlecote Pheasant hotel last year. Katie and Stan asked us if we would photograph their wedding in the Peak district and when we heard of their plans we were delighted to travel up there for an initial meeting to look around and to discuss their ideas for their photography on the day.

The happy couple are both keen outdoor types who are heavily into hill walking, climbing and other energetic adventurous pursuits. It shouldn’t have come as a surprise when we learnt that as part of their wedding day photography they wanted to be photographed on a hill-side, preferably in full wedding attire and standing on some rocks with hills in the background. I was preying for good weather on the day and easy walking!!!

After careful planning the day arrived and we set about doing the photography. It was made more interesting by the fact that half of the guests were the Italian side of Stan’s family and many didn’t speak much English. They were absolutely lovely though and we got on just fine using various gestures and with the help of some family interpreters! After some reportage, the ceremony and the formal group shots we had about 30 minutes to jump in our car, drive to a local beauty spot and get some scenic shots …. much to the amazement of some local ramblers. Talking of rambling, that’s enough for now. Here’s a few teaser shots to give you a flavour of their special day …..

The Maynard Arms in Grindleford …..

Stan helps his best man with the button hole …..

A few detailed shots just to set the scene a little more ……

Beautiful scenery right oustide the hotel door

Attention to detail in Katie’s room whilst getting ready …..

First glimpse of katie ….. Fabulous!

First photo of the newly weds …..

We even took our own step ladders for the whole group shot ……

Some quiet time alone after the ceremony and family group shots …..

Then a quick dash to the hillside …..

Back at the hotel and time for the sit-down meal and cutting the cake.

When Katie and Stan booked us to photograph their wedding they knew that we were already booked to do a full day wedding the next day near to Stratford upon Avon. We agreed to cover their day until the start of their meal so this time we weren’t there until the end but I think you’ll agree that we captured loads of interesting memories for them and they’ll have plenty of images to choose from for their album.

The above images are a small sample of the photographs that Gary and I took on the day. Over the next few weeks we’ll be editing many more images and they will, as always, be posted to the password protected area of my main website (Click here and choose their gallery when it’s been created) for family and friends to view. For details just ask Katie and Stan.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the peak district and it was a real pleasure to photograph Stan and katie’s special day.

If you are getting married in Warwickshire, the midlands (or perhaps further afield, like Katie and Stan) and you need an imaginative, fun and thoroughly professional photography service please contact me on 07739096632. I’m already booking up for late 2011 and throughout 2012 so there is no time like the present to get in touch!

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this blog post. If you have please take a moment to leave a comment. We like comments!!
