Victoria Jane Photography -A short preview of my wedding photography

Victoria Jane Photography -A short preview of my wedding photography

Wow were has the time gone? My poor old blog has been rather neglected over the last year … although for a good reason 🙂 I decided to take a little less work on so I could play Mummy a little bit more to our new beautiful daughter Livy, who has just turned 1 !

Were to start ? I have so many fabulous weddings to add and some really exciting corporate jobs I’ve had the honour to photograph over the last year. But Rome wasn’t built in a day and so rather than try rushing to post everything I thought Id have a look back over the last year or so and design a little video showing some of my favourite wedding photographs.

Being a professional Wedding photographer is such a wonderful privilege.  Not only do I get to be part of your special day (& maybe even eat a slice of cake!) but I get to create memories for you that will last a life time… precious memories that you’ll be able to look back on in years to come and smile, and maybe even shed a tear, reminiscing about your amazing day. And I have been lucky enough to have been allowed to create those irreplaceable memories, frozen in time, for hundreds and hundreds of lovely couples.

So how can I choose my favourite images as I must have an archive of 100’s of thousands of images.  Well the honest answer is I couldn’t, as I have too many :-),  so instead I chose a handful of images which hopefully captures who I am a photographer and give you an idea about how passionate I am about what I can do for you. What ever your preferred style, relaxed reportage photography, more classic photography or even unique contemporary photography & I happy to listen to your hopes for your Special day.

I’d love to hear from you if you have an up coming Wedding and would like a professional photographer. From small intimate registry office weddings to Grand Stately Homes, Id love to be part of your special day, capturing & creating life long memories for you, and even more favourite photographs for me!

Fern and Kyle’s Wedding – Ardencote Manor, Warwick

Fern & Kyle had been recommended to us after we had photographed their friend, Michelle’s wedding a few years back. I always love it when couples contact you and tell you they’ve been recommended as it’s wonderful to know that your work has really been cherished & appreciated 🙂

As with all of my brides & groom, I like trying to meet up a few weeks before their special day to get to know them a little better, and vice versa, and to chat through their day… what they are looking forward to… what pictures they really want & what they don’t want 🙂

Fern was fantastically prepared and I had a great idea of the pictures they wanted capturing.

Fern & Kyle had also decided to book Stuart to film their wedding which meant I not only got to photograph their special day, but I got to spend the day with Stuart as well.  I decided to ask my friend & one of my 2nd shooters, Gemma to come out with me in order to capture more reportage style photography.

Fern & Kyle got married at St Giles Church in Exhall before having their wedding reception at the wonderful Ardencote Manor in Warwick.

Here are just a few of their photos from their wedding day!

Alisa & Sam’s Wedding – Hatton Village Hall

What a lovely wedding 🙂 … Alisa’s family have know Stuart for years but it was still such an honour to be asked to photography and film Alisa & Sam’s wedding.

We met up with Alisa, Sam, mum & Dad a few weeks before to catch up (with a few drinks 🙂 ) & to chat through their wedding.  Sam & Alisa are very easy going and were more than happy to leave the day in our hands.

Alisa & Sam were marries at St James parish Church in Bulkington before heading to Hatton Village Hall in Warwick, for their reception.

Here are a few of their pictures from their wonderful day.

Nicole and Rob’s Wedding at Warwick House

I had first met Nicole and Rob at their cousins wedding I’d photographed at Warwick house a little while back.  It was therefore a wonderful complement that they also chose to book me to be their wedding photographer. Another added bonus was having Stuart accompany me as a second shooter.

I shouldn’t really, but I try and glimpse ahead at the weather forecast, keeping my fingers crossed that we’d have a let up in the awful weather we’d been having, as Nicole & Rob had hoped to get married outdoors in the gazebo at Warwick house.  Unfortunately fine weather definitely wasn’t on the cards and as Stuart & I waded across the road, which was now more like a river, to meet Nicole & the girls at Retreat Hair salon I was so pleased to see that the weather hadn’t dampened their spirits.

Nicole had asked us first to meet us at the saloon to get some images of her and her bridesmaids having their hair done, then to pop back to her & Robs house to photograph her dress, shoes and jewellery followed by her final preparate at Warwick house.

We built in a little time before Nicole was due to arrive to photograph Rob & his best man, her beautiful bouquet and also to catch up with a few familiar faces.  The weather broke just long enough to dash outside & grab a couple of shots with Rob by the now redundant gazebo.

While Rob met with the Registrar’s  we finish getting some candid shots of guest mingling and enjoying themselves before spending the last few moments, before the ceremony, with Nicole.  Nicole looked stunning 🙂 & I was lucky enough to have time to capture one last shot of her as she descended the stairs to the ceremony room & her husband to be.

After a lovely ceremony people’s spirits were running high despite rain lashing all around.  It certainly wasn’t going to dampen Nicole & Rob’s spirits and so we carried on with group shots in doors, utilising the chaise longue & lovely large arched window.

After we were happy that we’d capture all the images Nicole & Rob had asked for we had time for a quick confetti shot, on the staircase, before stealing the newly-weds off for some photos of the two of them.

And then …. as if by magic …. it stopped raining.  The one shot we hadn’t been able to get for them, which Nicole had asked for, was a shot of everyone in a heart shape.  We grab everyone together got our photo & even managed to squeeze a few more shots of just the two of together, outdoors, before the heavens opened once more.

I don’t think I saw Nicole & Rob stopped smiling the whole day through.  I was so pleased to have been part of their special day.  We stayed to capture Rob’s speech before departing to allow them to continue with their Wedding celebrations.

Here are just a small selection of the photos we took on the day.

I’m now very much looking forward to designing their album 🙂

Nicki & Rob’s Wedding at Allesley Church & Brandon Hall

A job doesn’t get much better when you can combine everything you love. My passion for photography, getting to be creating with wonderful wedding dresses, pretty flowers, sparkly jewellery, working with Stuart who was 2nd shooting with me on this wedding, celebrating special occasions with happy people & of course … cake! So how pleased was I that I could combine all of these with Nicki & Rob’s Wedding.

Nicki & Rob popped over a few weeks before their wedding to chat through their day & have a few informal practise shots as they were a little nervous about having their pictures taken.  I know they were nervous but they really had no need to be.  They are a lovely couple with great personalities & who obviously adore each other & this shone through in the images I captured   :).

Stuart & I headed to Nicki’s house to first capture all the pretty details of the dress, shoes, flowers etc as well as Nicki & her bridesmaids’ preparation.  It was clear from the beginning that this was going to be a lovely feel-good wedding.

After spending some time with the girls we headed to Allesley Church in Coventry to photograph Rob with his two best men & usher.  Rob was happy for fun & formal photograph so we made the most of it by getting the lads to star jump & give Rob the bumps!

It was a lovely service conducted by Robin &, once finished, we spent a little time getting some of the group shots Nicki & Rob had asked for, as well as the first of the shots of Nicki & Rob as husband & wife.

After a cheeky glass of Champaign, the happy couple made their way to Brandon Hall in style in a lovely 1933 Rolls Royce convertible, courtesy of Chris from C.G.Wedding cars

We’d had a bad spell with the weather & I knew Nicki had been worried that her wedding would be a wash out.  She’d hired out some lovely pretty white parasol type umbrellas.  Nicki hadn’t needed to have been worried as the weather ended up being glorious.  However, it would have been an awful waste to not have used the parasols & as well as some lovely shots with the couple we had great fun with the youngest bridesmaid and Nicki’s two cheeky twin brothers.

We finished our photographic coverage after the speeches, which went down very well, particularly the double act from the best men which comprised of a slide show, showing various embarrassing photos as well as reminiscing about the antics of a younger Rob.

Nicki & Rob’s wedding was a fantastic & fun wedding to photograph. Below are a few of my favourite images we took from the day.

Jo and David’s Wedding at The Welcombe Hotel Stratford

I’ve always enjoyed photographing weddings at The Welcombe Hotel in Stratford so when Jo & David booked me for their wedding I was delighted when they told me The Welcombe was their wedding venue.  I was even more excited when I found out the Jo’s best friend, Laura, who I also know, was her maid of honour :).

We met up a couple of weeks before their wedding to chat about their plans for their day and to find out what photos they really wanted.  This would be a lovely family orientated wedding as Jo & David’s three children would feature prominently within the wedding.

Gemma was 2nd shooting for the 1st time with me today and after a quick walk around the grounds we met Jo her 3 bridesmaids and her Son & usher for the day, Connor,  in the beautiful Countess suite at The Welcombe. What a wonderful asset Grace, Flo & Connor are to their Parent’s they were so polite, friendly and fun to photograph.  The two twin girls made beautiful bridesmaids & Connor certainly enjoyed wielding his cane around for the day, looking every bit the gentleman.

After the service we all made our way to the garden’s for canapes, drinks and photos. After some group shots I stole Jo & David for some more romantic couple shots, around the grounds.  I was particularly chuffed as it just so happened that the purple lavender was out in force which happened to compliment Jo’s purple theme beautifully.

Jo & David then spent time enjoying their day with their guests which was a great opportunity for Gemma & I to capture lots of reportage shots.  It was also a great for us to relax a little and chat with their family and friend.  It was obvious that Jo & David are held in high regards and I heard nothing but praise for them.  What a lovely family and what an honour for me to be part of such a special day.

Here are just a few images taken at Jo & David’s wedding.

Terry’s Surprise 65th Birthday Party at Sketchley Grange | photographed by Victoria Jane Photography

I’ve been lucky enough over the past year to be booked for a number of fantastic surprise birthday or anniversary parties.

I first met Shireen & Terry when I had been asked to photograph the President’s Golfing dinner at Nuneaton Golf course earlier in the year.

Shireen called me to say that she was organising a surprise party for her husband & wanted me to come along, for around 2 hours, to photograph the evening.  As she went on to explain what she was organising I was astounded by how much she was planning & I have to admit, a little excited to hear about the entertainment act she had chosen.

I’ve always been a fan of Monty Python & John Cleese, so imagine my delight when Shireen said that she had booked a Basil Fawlty & Manuel double-act from  “John Parkin as Cleese” (www.cleese.co.uk).  I’ve got to say, I was not disappointed :).  They were brilliant! – The pair went from table to table in the classic Basil & Manuel style buffoonery, entertaining guests while we waited for Terry to arrive.  Not stopping there, during the buffet they went on to insult (in a humorous way of course), irritate &  make people laugh … Manuel even attempted to serve the buffet to the crowd, before perfectly executing a well thought out plot to pretend to drop a box with a set of very expensive crystal cut glasses in.  Even though Shireen had known the plan, both she, Terry & all 80+ guests were crying with hysterics when Manuel went flying, smashing the contents of the box to smithereens 🙂

Once the evening was well underway & Terry had started to recover from the fantastic Surprise his wife had organised it soon became clear that 2 hours photography wasn’t going to be long enough.  I was really pleased when Shireen asked me to stay 2 more hours to continue photographing the evening.  This also included some great entertainment provided by the musical tribute band Barry Walker’s Smackee.

Below is a small selection of the photographs taken on the evening.

Sam and Andy | Wedding Photography at the Ardencote Manor Hotel in Warwickshire

This has to rate up there as one of the most enjoyable weddings of the year! Sam and Andy are such a fun loving fantastic couple that we couldn’t help but smile most of the day. Sometimes we had to remind ourselves that we were there to do the photography and not as guests! The wedding ceremony and celebrations took place at the beautiful Ardencote Manor hotel and Golf Club in Claverdon, Warwickshire. We were there from about 90 minutes before the ceremony started to late into the evening celebrations. It’s probably true to say that we both (Gary and I) took more photographs on this wedding day than just about any other wedding we’ve done this year. I’ll let the photos do the talking – Here we go! ……..

Ardencote Manor Hotel – Front Entrance with turning circle …..

Andy on the far left with groomsmen. What a great bunch!

A few practice swings, just to warm up for the events ahead ….

And a few more exercises to get the legs working too!

Just after the arrival of Sam with her lovely brides maids ….

Sam showing her true feelings for her brother! …..

And then we went inside for the ceremony itself …..

Having the two of us there helps to get photographs from more than one angle without us having to move around and distract the registrars

Signing of the register …..

Then it was time to go outside into the bright sunshine for some group photographs beside the lovely lake ….

Something told me that Andy was in his element – Swept off his feet with a pint in his hand!

A few newlywed ‘alone’ shots ….

And then it was inside to start the celebrations …..

Hilarious speceches. It was difficult to keep the camera still at times! Good job we use stabilised lenses!

On to the first dance and what seemed like hundreds of guests for the evening entertainment …..

Andy treated us all to an impromptu solo performance too! Soooo funny! Sorry Andy, but it was!

As night fell we had the opportunity to try a few slightly more unusual shots ….

We had a great time photographing Andy and Sam’s wedding day. They are a great couple, each with a fantastic sense of humour. It was also great to meet so many guests who’ve been at other weddings we’ve done this year too. Referrals are great for our business and this is how we met Sam and Andy. A window of opportunity – Kate & Adam’s pre wedding shoot

Many of my brides & groom’s choose a wedding package that includes a free pre-wedding photo shoot and consultation with me.  Not only does it give us a fantastic opportunity to get to know each other, it also gives the couple a chance to have a practice being in front of the camera, to discuss their ideas and tell me who they want me to photograph …… oh & if I’m lucky, a coffee & a cake  🙂

One such pre-wedding shoot I photographed was for Kate & Adam, who got married recently at the beautiful Ragley Hall in Warwickshire.

I am always on the look out for an image which pushes my creativity as well as my photographic skills.  Ragley Hall certainly provided me with many fantastic opportunities to create such an image. The main hall at Ragley is VERY dark but lit by huge arched windows at one end – ideal for silhouettes ….

So here it is, my favourite image from the afternoon

A stunning 16ft arched window + amazing view + a lovely couple = photograph below

Ragley Hall’s Spectacular Fireworks Display | Corporate Event Photographs by Victoria Jane Photography

It’s 1am & I’ve had a somewhat busy day  …

…My day started at Coombe Abbey in Coventry where I was photographing Linda & Ian’s Wedding.  We had a wonderful day & the weather was amazing.  We managed to do plenty of outside photographs in the stunning grounds and we even went on a ghost tour which isn’t the best thing to do when you’ve got such an active imagination as I have! Will I sleep tonight? Photos of the wedding to follow.

Once I had left Coombe, I then made a mad dash over to the stunning Ragley Hall to photographs their amazing fireworks display. I took the opportunity to take Gary and Jessica with me so they could enjoy the fireworks too (without Gary having to have a camera in his hand for once!). Jessica doesn’t normally like loud noises so it was a bit of a risk but she loved it and at the end of the display was asking for ‘more bangs daddy please’…..

There were children’s fairground rides, a live fireshow, numerous food stalls, a huge bonfire & Touch FM was there to create a great party atmosphere!

Here are just a few of my favourite images from the night…….

I have been lucky enough to photograph a number of events at Ragley Hall this Year. This event was photographed on behalf of Ragley Hall’s Operations Manager & Front of House Supervisor. I have many more images to forward to them & I hope they enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed attending the event & photographing them.

If you have a special event in Warwickshire or the West Midlands that you would like photographing then please give me a call on 07739 096 632.
