Beth and Steve Got Married | Wedding Photographs by Victoria Jane Photography at St. Mary’s church in Chipping Norton and then Stone Barn near Burford

I was thrilled when Steve contacted me to ask me to photograph his and Beth’s wedding. Steve had been a fabulous usher at a wedding that I’d photographed last year and so he knew, first hand, how we work. It was, of course, a great compliment that he contacted me. The wedding was at two lovely venues in the Cotswolds: St. Mary’s church in Chipping Norton and a celebration later at Stone Barn near to Burford. We agreed to be present until the end of the speeches at the start of the wedding breakfast meal. Beth and Steve originally wanted to book us for the whole day but unfortunately this wasn’t possible on this occasion as we were already booked to travel over night to another wedding the following day in South Wales. On the day, we were blessed with good weather, a fabulous couple (Beth was a wedding photographer’s dream in every way!) and some picturesque backdrops at Stone barn. Here’s a taster of their special day ……

We thoroughly enjoyed photographing Beth and Steve’s wedding day. St. Mary’s church was lovely and Stone barn was a bit of a revelation. I’m known mostly as a Warwickshire Wedding Photographer but as you can see I am prepared to travel too. If you are thinking of getting married and you want a fun photographer who offers flexibility along with creativity please give me a call on 07739096632.

If you were a guest at Beth and Steve’s wedding you may wish to view all of the edited images on the password protected website by clicking here and entering the password. You will need to get the password from Beth and Steve.

I hope you enjoyed looking at this sample of photographs. Please feel free to leave a comment. I like comments!

Craig and Alice’s Wedding | Photography in Harbury, Warwickshire by Victoria Jane Photography

Some weddings can be described in only 3 words; Fun, Fun, FUN !!!

When Alice and Craig met me to discuss their photography I was in no doubt that this was going to be a fabulous day ….. and I wasn’t wrong! They were a lovely couple with a lively set of guests and bridesmaids and groomsmen who were also up for a laugh.

It was really interesting to see some different things on the day that had been carefully planned: the bride taking her pet sheep for a walk, our photo booth at night time in the stables, A road trip with a horse and carriage, Sumo wrestling suits for the guests, Giant Jenga on the lawn etc.

Anyway, enough of the chat, lets allow the photos to do the talking …….

As you can see, I was given a bit of freedom to think up some interesting photo opportunities. Craig and Alice were very willing to do something different and the photography became one of the entertainments of the day! We were there for around 15 hours from early morning to late at night. It was a fabulous day and I hope you enjoyed the images I created.

If you are planning a wedding day with a difference in Warwickshire and you fancy some creative and fun photographic memories please give me a call on 07739096632. I’d love to talk to you.

Meanwhile, guests of Alice and Craig will be able to view the full set of edited images by clicking here and entering the password to enter their gallery. The password can only be obtained from Craig or Alice. From there you can view images and order prints and other products if you wish. Enjoy!

Beth & Steve’s Pre Wedding Photo Shoot at Stone Barn near Burford & St. Mary’s Church in Chipping Norton

We originally met Beth and Steve at a wedding that we photographed last year. Steve was an Usher at Lara and Martin’s wedding at the Charlecote pheasant hotel near Stratford upon Avon. The ushers at that wedding were really well organised and pro active so I was delighted when Steve contacted me to say that he and Beth were getting married this year and wanted to book me to do their wedding photography. They get married in a few weeks time in the Cotswolds and today was the day that we met up to discuss their wedding photographs in detail, to view the locations and to have a fun photo shoot session to get them used to being the main attractions in-front of the camera …  As you can see Beth took the photo shoot very seriously 😀

Here goes with a small selection of the photos I took today, I think they’ll love the images 🙂

Stone Barn (above) near to Burford in the Cotswolds is a new location for us and so I wanted to visit it to see what it is like and to plan my photographs. I was surprised and delighted at how lovely the location turned out to be. I can see why they chose it. There are so many opportunities to get great shots, especially if you are a lover of the countryside and interesting rustic buildings.

We also spent a good hour or so inside the lovely St Mary’s church in Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds. The church is lovely inside and out and we’ve planned that I’ll have a little bit of a surprise up my sleeve when it comes to a congregation group shot after the marriage service!

I’ll be posting a sample of my wedding photos of Beth and Steve’s actual wedding day on this blog later on in August. I’m sure that it will be a great day. They are a lovely couple; very photogenic and very relaxed in front of the camera. Gary will be second-shooting for me  and we are looking forward to capturing the story of their day with a nice mixture of formal and relaxed informal shots at both venues. Watch this space!!

No News on here is Good News! – At least for my booming Photography business!

A Short update!

You could, perhaps, be forgiven for thinking that because I’ve not added anything on here for a couple of weeks I mustn’t have been doing any photography. You’d be Very Wrong! That’s precisely why I haven’t added anything to this blog – I’ve been far too busy to do it!

I will be adding updated articles and many more images of recent weddings and other work on here very soon.

Coming up Soon – Sneak Peek previews of:

Matt and Sinead’s wedding photography at Abbey Church in Erdington, and their celebrations at The Boat House restaurant in Sutton Park and the Belfry

Rugby School Cadet parade photographs

Corporate Photography – Scrunch Bucket’s and Didicar  photographs

Corporate Photography – Carpetright National Convention at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole hotel at the NEC

Emma and Ian’s wedding at St Mark’s church in Bilton and celebrations photographed at Dunchurch Park hotel in Dunchurch (working along side a fellow photographer)

Laura and Danny’s Wedding Photography at St Margaret’s Church in Crick and celebrations at the fabulous Wethele Manor near to Leamington Spa

Liz and Doug’s Wedding Photography at the lovely Walton Hall in Warwickshire (which I attended today)

Oh – and by tomorrow night I’ll have Laura and Patrick’s (Paddy’s) images to go through as well. They get married tomorrow at Warwick house near to Southam in Warwickshire and we’ll be there with cameras at the ready!

So as you can see I’ve been a bit busy! – Back to the editing 🙂    Come back soon. Vicky x

Nicola and Daniel | Wedding Photography at Rowton Castle in Shrewsbury

Well, it finally arrived – my brother’s wedding!

After 10 years together Dan married Nicola this bank holiday Monday at the fantastic Rowton Castle hotel in Shrewsbury. As well as being a guest (obviously) I was also behind the camera – I couldn’t help myself 🙂 ! This time though, Gary wasn’t acting as my second-shooter because he was not only looking after our daughter, who was a beautiful flower girl, but was also one of the ushers! So instead, I roped in a trusted colleague & friend Stuart Kettell (of Kettell Video Productions in Coventry, whom I often work along-side and  photograph on his mad Macmillan charity challenges) to handle a lot of the photography for us.

Our present to Nic and Dan will be a fantastic bespoke digital album that I will create over the next few weeks using my images and Stuart’s images from the day.

I’ve just got home and spent the last hour or two making numerous back-ups of our images (as I always do) and I’ve noticed a few facebook (iphone and compact camera) images from the wedding appearing already! …… So as not to be out done I thought I’d better post a few sneaky peak photos from a real camera! Here are a just few of my favourite photos I took ………

A personal message to my family, our guests and friends of Dan and Nic
We had a great time and I’m sure that I’ll be able to create an album that Nic and Dan will treasure forever. For family, guests and friends reading this blog, here’s what happens next: Firstly, remember that I’m photographing and editing loads of other weddings too, some of which came before Nic and Dan’s! As soon as I can I’ll be sorting through all of the hundreds of photos from all 3 cameras. I’ll be editing a nice range of images that tell the story of the day and then I’ll post them on my main gallery website with a password to view them. You can get the password from Dan and Nicola. You’ll get the chance to order professional quality prints if you want to at that stage. The best way is to phone me on 07739096632 and tell me which ones you like!

Meanwhile, I like comments! Please post a comment! Click below to write a sentence or two about the photographs. Your comment will appear ‘live’ on here after I’ve approved it! You’ve never had a better reason than this! ……. Thank you.

Urban Chic! | Contemporary Portraits by Victoria Jane Photography

Last week I got together with a few professional photographer colleagues (including Hannah Duffy from Cambridge and Lisa Scott from Rugby) to share ideas and experiences. That’s one of the nice things about good pro photographers – they aren’t afraid of the competition, they realise the benefits of working together to assist each other and share ideas! Anyway, we took the opportunity to do some ‘urban’ style photography using a professional model called Holly. We each had our own ideas and styles. Here are some of my shots after I applied a touch of editing trickery …….

Regular readers of this blog and people who know me will realise that this isn’t the sort of photography that I do all of the time but I think many of you would be surprised at the variety of work that I do take on. After all, even though I’m known as a wedding photographer around 25-30% of the work I take on is corporate and family portrait based. If you fancy having your own contemporary portraits, perhaps a street theme or something else of an artistic nature and you’ve got an idea of what you’d like to achieve but don’t know how, please give me a call (07739096632).

Meanwhile, I love to receive comments on my posts. Please take a moment to add a comment (click below). I will always approve sensible comments and do my best to reply and put the comments ‘live’ within a few days.

Sarah & Darren’s Wedding | Photography at the Forest hotel in Dorridge, West Midlands

After a busy Christmas most people like to chill out … Not Sarah 🙂 … as well as her tireless fund raising for Macmillan Cancer Support in Coventry & Warkwickshire, being a full-time mum & preparing for Christmas, Sarah was also organising her wedding … which included making all her guests individual cup cakes (yum) – Mad, I know!

So I guess it was quite fitting that she used equally mad photographers to capture her & Darren’s special day

– Stuart (Will the mad fool make it?) Kettell & myself !!

We’ve both known Sarah for a number of years & as well as all being good friends, Stuart & I (more recently) also help raise money for Macmillan.

The Weather can always be an interesting challenge for the photographer & today was no exception! The ground still had a light covering of snow, in patches, & as we approached The Forest Hotel in Dorridge we also had a thick fog to contend with.

Below are a selection of images from Sarah & Darren’s Wedding day

As Sarah & the girls get ready …

… We meet the two most important young men of the day!

Also in the above picture we have the Groom, Darren (bottom rhs) & best man (bottom lhs).

Apparently they are always this angelic!

Sarah’s bridesmaids looking stunning.

Sarah’s Dad proudly walks his daughter down the aisle.

The exchange of rings followed by the reading “the Lovely other Dinosaur” by Sarah’s sister.  Proudly helping out, Sarah & Darren’s boys hold up drawings they’ve made to illustrate the poem – ahh 🙂

The Kiss!

It’s official.

The lengths we’ll go to as photographers to get the shot …

Darren serenades his beautiful bride

(while I stand in 4″ of water on the flat roof of the hotel just to capture the moment)

Sarah had thought of everything ……… 🙂

For the observant among you, even the photographers ended up being photographed!!

And as the evening drew to an end …

… We had time for one final image ♥

Two Lovely Warwickshire Wedding Venues | Ragley Hall & Coombe Park Photographed by Victoria Jane Photography

Warwickshire has so many lovely wedding venues that sometimes it’s easy to forget how spoilt for choice our brides and grooms can be. I’m always very aware that many couples book lovely locations because it adds to the atmosphere of their day ….. and, of course, they want some nice photographs that capture the details of the venue to help remember their day by. The following photographs show a couple of venues where I’ve done or and doing wedding photography this Autumn: Ragley Hall in Alcester near to Stratford upon Avon and Coombe Park Country Hotel near to Coventry…….

Ragley Hall – Great for spectacular Wedding Photographs

……but very challenging as a photographer if you don’t know what you’re doing!

This is the driveway within the huge grounds that lead up to Ragley hall. It’s where wedding cars will arrive ….

A closer look at the front of the main house from the courtyard. Ideal for arranging large group shots …

One of the fantastic views from inside the great hall. This photo was taken on one of my preparation visits, not on an actual wedding day, hence the stacked chairs – but it gives you a good idea of how grand it is ! What this photo doesn’t show is how dark it is – something an ordinary camera wouldn’t handle.

This is called the red room, for obvious reasons! It can be used as the room from which the bride first enters the great hall.

… and another view from the opposite end ….

I like to make use of the red room for taking beautiful photos of the bride just before her groom sees her for the first time and again afterwards, sometimes making use of the spectacular view through the windows and the large mirrors inside. I’ve ‘photoshopped out’ the ropes and stands that cordon-off some of the furniture and valuable artifacts.

One of the main attractions for wedding couples is the beautiful stair case and murals on all surrounding walls. Spectacular ….but Very dark and the light available changes massively from day to day. Again, I took the following photos without using any additional lighting or flash since the flash will tend to over expose the white walls and columns, ‘blowing-out’ the detail.

And another view – I can’t stress enough how a normal camera simply wouldn’t handle this image without the flash going off, ruining the details and casting horrible false shadows! Again, I took this photo without flash and it was actually very dark inside.

The mural continues as you look upwards, although it’s worth pointing out that couples do not have access up the whole staircase, only the first few steps …. but it is great for some newly-wed couple shots.

After the ceremony and weather-permitting there is a lovely terrace overlooking the spectacular gardens that guests will be invited to go to: Great for outdoor photo opportunities. Sometimes, however, the gardens are open to the general public and so it can be necessary, as a photographer, to choose your opportunities carefully.

Coombe Park Country Hotel near to Coventry (Often Called Coombe Abbey)

…… Lovely building and grounds lend themselves really well to great photos but again the internal lighting can be very challenging

I’ve taken photographs at Coombe Park for several years and I find something new every time I visit! It has some lovely grounds and the hotel backs onto the public park that can be very busy at certain times of the year. There are great opportunities for lovely photographs in the grounds, which ever way you turn – but again, it’s not a venue that an inexperienced photographer or one without top quality equipment will be able to make best use of. Internally it can be very dark and externally you’ve got the general public to avoid and contend with. Here are a few shots I took today on a preparation visit ready for a wedding I’m photographing there in a few weeks time …..

Lots of people in the Coventry and warwickshire area think they know Coombe Park but few will recognise this, despite the fact that it’s the front entrance!

The moat provides plenty of opportunity to make use of reflections. Here are several external shots from view points that I particularly like ….

I decided to let the images do the talking. It doesn’t require much imagination to realise that for a bride and groom any of the views I’ve shown you would provide a perfect backdrop for any number of lovely photographs.

I’m taking bookings for photographing weddings throughout 2011 and I am now receiving enquiries for weddings for 2012 as well. If you would like to talk to me about wedding photography at either of these two venues (Ragley hall or Coombe Park) or any other Warwickshire venue I am only a phone call away!  My number is 07739096632.

I’d be glad to discuss your requirements and provide advice and opinions on getting the most out of your wedding photography. I really can’t stress enough how important it is to have a wedding photographer who has the knowledge, ability and equipment necessary to get the best out of these lovely venues and from your guests whilst enhancing your enjoyment of your special day as well.

Macmillan Cancer Support Photo Shoot at Ikea in Coventry this Friday – Please come along with your kids

This coming Friday (24th Sept) is Macmillan Cancer Support’s Coffee Morning. I am starting to do more and more work in support of Macmillan and I’m doing my bit on Friday in Ikea, Coventry from around 10am. I’m going to be flexible but if there is enough interest I’m intending to be there all day and I’d like to be there after school closing time so that parents with children in school will still have chance to come and see me and have some photos done.

So what am I doing?

In short, a photoshoot. I’ll have my portable studio lighting and some backdrops so that I can have some fun taking photos and printing them out there and then.

Are there any Give Aways or Freebies?

I’m going to be running a draw to win a free family Autumn/Winter photo shoot with me. It will be open to anyone who has photos taken and buys a photo on the day.

Who is it for?

The intention is that mostly children will be photographed. But it isn’t just for children. I’m just as happy doing family shots and couples etc.

What will happen to the images?

I’ll do several shots and you’ll be able to see them on the monitor. If you like them you can buy them and I’ll print them out there and then for you to take away.

Will there be a charge?

Yes – but only if you buy a photograph and the charge will be quite modest. Profits will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Is this an Official Macmillan Cancer Support Event?

Yes – Macmillan have made all of the arrangements and they asked me to do the photography.

What if I want to buy the images afterwards?

I’m going to put some images on my blog site and many images (for children) on my password protected website. More photos can be bought from there if you wish but you’ll need to tell me that you are interested at the time so that I make sure yours are there.

Will Macmillan be there?

Yes – Look out for the green T-Shirts

When and Where is it?

Ikea, Coventry City centre, Friday 24th September from about 10 am and throughout most of the day. I’m hoping to be there to catch the after-school children and parents too. I’ll be located in the Coffee/Restaurant area.

I’m really looking forward to doing this photo shoot in Ikea, Coventry and I’d like as many pre-school toddlers, their mums, dads, grandparents etc during the daytime and older children and families after school. Everyone is welcome to join us and have a professional photo taken. I want to raise as much money for Macmillan as I can on the day. Please tell everyone you know.

Love to see you there! Vicky x
