I’ve been lucky enough over the past year to be booked for a number of fantastic surprise birthday or anniversary parties.

I first met Shireen & Terry when I had been asked to photograph the President’s Golfing dinner at Nuneaton Golf course earlier in the year.

Shireen called me to say that she was organising a surprise party for her husband & wanted me to come along, for around 2 hours, to photograph the evening.  As she went on to explain what she was organising I was astounded by how much she was planning & I have to admit, a little excited to hear about the entertainment act she had chosen.

I’ve always been a fan of Monty Python & John Cleese, so imagine my delight when Shireen said that she had booked a Basil Fawlty & Manuel double-act from  ”John Parkin as Cleese” (www.cleese.co.uk).  I’ve got to say, I was not disappointed :) .  They were brilliant! – The pair went from table to table in the classic Basil & Manuel style buffoonery, entertaining guests while we waited for Terry to arrive.  Not stopping there, during the buffet they went on to insult (in a humorous way of course), irritate &  make people laugh … Manuel even attempted to serve the buffet to the crowd, before perfectly executing a well thought out plot to pretend to drop a box with a set of very expensive crystal cut glasses in.  Even though Shireen had known the plan, both she, Terry & all 80+ guests were crying with hysterics when Manuel went flying, smashing the contents of the box to smithereens :)

Once the evening was well underway & Terry had started to recover from the fantastic Surprise his wife had organised it soon became clear that 2 hours photography wasn’t going to be long enough.  I was really pleased when Shireen asked me to stay 2 more hours to continue photographing the evening.  This also included some great entertainment provided by the musical tribute band Barry Walker’s Smackee.

Below is a small selection of the photographs taken on the evening.

This has to rate up there as one of the most enjoyable weddings of the year! Sam and Andy are such a fun loving fantastic couple that we couldn’t help but smile most of the day. Sometimes we had to remind ourselves that we were there to do the photography and not as guests! The wedding ceremony and celebrations took place at the beautiful Ardencote Manor hotel and Golf Club in Claverdon, Warwickshire. We were there from about 90 minutes before the ceremony started to late into the evening celebrations. It’s probably true to say that we both (Gary and I) took more photographs on this wedding day than just about any other wedding we’ve done this year. I’ll let the photos do the talking – Here we go! ……..

Ardencote Manor Hotel – Front Entrance with turning circle …..

Andy on the far left with groomsmen. What a great bunch!

A few practice swings, just to warm up for the events ahead ….

And a few more exercises to get the legs working too!

Just after the arrival of Sam with her lovely brides maids ….

Sam showing her true feelings for her brother! …..

And then we went inside for the ceremony itself …..

Having the two of us there helps to get photographs from more than one angle without us having to move around and distract the registrars

Signing of the register …..

Then it was time to go outside into the bright sunshine for some group photographs beside the lovely lake ….

Something told me that Andy was in his element – Swept off his feet with a pint in his hand!

A few newlywed ‘alone’ shots ….

And then it was inside to start the celebrations …..

Hilarious speceches. It was difficult to keep the camera still at times! Good job we use stabilised lenses!

On to the first dance and what seemed like hundreds of guests for the evening entertainment …..

Andy treated us all to an impromptu solo performance too! Soooo funny! Sorry Andy, but it was!

As night fell we had the opportunity to try a few slightly more unusual shots ….

We had a great time photographing Andy and Sam’s wedding day. They are a great couple, each with a fantastic sense of humour. It was also great to meet so many guests who’ve been at other weddings we’ve done this year too. Referrals are great for our business and this is how we met Sam and Andy. If you are getting married at the Ardencote Manor hotel in Claverdon in Warwickshire and you need a photographer please do contact me on 07739096632. I’ll be glad to talk to you about your special day.

Meanwhile, if you were one of Sam and Andy’s guests and you want to see more photos from the day (and there are loads!) I’ve put there full gallery of images on my main website. You can view the images by clicking here and entering the password. Only Sam and Andy have been issued with the password so that they have control over who can view the images.

Many of my brides & groom’s choose a wedding package that includes a free pre-wedding photo shoot and consultation with me.  Not only does it give us a fantastic opportunity to get to know each other, it also gives the couple a chance to have a practice being in front of the camera, to discuss their ideas and tell me who they want me to photograph …… oh & if I’m lucky, a coffee & a cake  :)

One such pre-wedding shoot I photographed was for Kate & Adam, who got married recently at the beautiful Ragley Hall in Warwickshire.

I am always on the look out for an image which pushes my creativity as well as my photographic skills.  Ragley Hall certainly provided me with many fantastic opportunities to create such an image. The main hall at Ragley is VERY dark but lit by huge arched windows at one end – ideal for silhouettes ….

So here it is, my favourite image from the afternoon

A stunning 16ft arched window + amazing view + a lovely couple = photograph below

It’s 1am & I’ve had a somewhat busy day  …

…My day started at Coombe Abbey in Coventry where I was photographing Linda & Ian’s Wedding.  We had a wonderful day & the weather was amazing.  We managed to do plenty of outside photographs in the stunning grounds and we even went on a ghost tour which isn’t the best thing to do when you’ve got such an active imagination as I have! Will I sleep tonight? Photos of the wedding to follow.

Once I had left Coombe, I then made a mad dash over to the stunning Ragley Hall to photographs their amazing fireworks display. I took the opportunity to take Gary and Jessica with me so they could enjoy the fireworks too (without Gary having to have a camera in his hand for once!). Jessica doesn’t normally like loud noises so it was a bit of a risk but she loved it and at the end of the display was asking for ‘more bangs daddy please’…..

There were children’s fairground rides, a live fireshow, numerous food stalls, a huge bonfire & Touch FM was there to create a great party atmosphere!

Here are just a few of my favourite images from the night…….

I have been lucky enough to photograph a number of events at Ragley Hall this Year. This event was photographed on behalf of Ragley Hall’s Operations Manager & Front of House Supervisor. I have many more images to forward to them & I hope they enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed attending the event & photographing them.

If you have a special event in Warwickshire or the West Midlands that you would like photographing then please give me a call on 07739 096 632.

This was a FABULOUS wedding to photograph! Weve been lucky enough to have done the wedding photography at many weddings in Warwickshire this year and several have been at the lovely Charlecote Pheasant Hotel in Charlecote near to Stratford Upon Avon. All of the weddings there have been memorable and this one certainly lived up to our expectations. What a wonderful bride and groom and a responsive and up-beat set of guests! We knew from the word ‘go’ that this was going to be good!

Natalie and Lee had told us that they wanted some ‘fun’ photographs and they put their faith in us to try something a little different that would enhance their day. They even gave us some sample images they liked from a wedding they attended ‘down-under’ in the hope that we might include the ideas. I’d like to think we succeeded. We came away with a large number of photographs and we are still editing them! For now though, here’s a taster, just to whet your appetite – Enjoy!

What a start! As a present to Lee, Natalie had organised a helicopter ride for Lee, his brother (best man) and his future Father-in-law over the beautiful Warwickshire countyside. Natalie, of course, was no-where to be seen so she will appreciate seeing the whirly-bird (look very closely and you’ll see Lee inside!).

Meanwhile, Natalie was busily getting organised …

What a picture …. Natalie looking stunning in her fantastic dress!

The boys, looking very smart! Lee, far left …

Picturesque St. Leonard’s Church in Charlecote during the morning preparations …

The girls arrive! Stunning green bridesmaids dresses and Natalie looking even more gorgeous with proud dad ….

Lee spotting his beautiful bride for the first time ….. and then the service (photographed from two angles: Gary at the back, me at the front!)

Just married … and the Signing of the register while entertained by a very talented singing bridesmaid …

How inconsiderate of the church builders not to include quite enough arches!

WORK IT guys … Strike a Pose!

Slowing down the traffic … they certainly turned some heads …..

The happy couple, first time briefly alone (apart from two photographers and a few cameras!)

Enough Confetti for several weddings! ……

The amateur photographers with their iphones were on show and helped us to get some nice images like this one (on the left). When we told Lee it might take a few days to see some of our edited images of his beautiful bride he obviously decided that he simply couldn’t wait!

I forgot to mention that both Natalie and Lee had doubles! The likeness was astounding!

Some ‘Girl’ time … getting a little bit cheeky ….

Photo booth – Some fun in the evening …. and this was at the START of the party!

We set up our studio lighting equipment, a backdrop that matched the colour of some of the flowers and brought along some old picture frames. It was a bit of a gamble, but based on Natalie and Lee’s personality we thought it was worth a go. Great fun was had by all …..

The photo frame pictures are great fun if the guests are up for having a go. These guests certainly were!

Virtually everybody had a go, including parents

And the bridesmaids were definitely up for a laugh ….

In fact, just about everyone got in on the act ….

And, of course, I couldn’t finish off these teaser images without letting the newlyweds be the centre of attention again! Looks like they’ve done this sort of thing before!

Right – that’s it for now folks – I hope you’ve enjoyed viewing them!

We took many more photographs on the day and we are still in the process of editing them for Natalie and Lee. It takes hours!! There will be loads more in the coming weeks for them to look at and to choose from for their album. I’ll be posting them on my password-protected website when they are ready. I’ve done loads of weddings recently and I need to work on images for other couples too, so it will take me a few weeks to get them all ready but it’s better to do a good job and to do Natalie and Lee justice with their wedding photography images.

I’ll make a note on here when the images are available to view on my main website and you will be able to get the password from Natalie and Lee.

Meanwhile, if you were at the wedding (or if you are simply looking for interest) and have an opinion about our photograhy or the images above PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT by clicking the green link below.

We had the pleasure of being asked to do the wedding photography at the wedding of Carrie and Chris at the Charlecote Pheasant hotel in Warwickshire…… and what a great day it was!

Both Carrie and Chris were up for devoting some time to the photography whilst still giving plenty of attention to their guests. They wanted a mixture of quite a few traditional group shots and some more individual photos of just the two of them and with their lovely daughter. I think we got the balance just right. I know that by the evening Chris was wondering how the day had gone so quickly! Well, it does when you are enjoying yourself …. and I know that both bride and groom did just that! Here’s just a taster of the images from the day ………

The Venue – Charlecote Pheasant hotel near to Stratford upon Avon in Warwickshire ….. complete with blue sky!

A bit of a warm-up in the morning for the main guys! At least it was better than being chased by wasps, hey Chris?

The rings, safely tucked away …. at least until I got hold of them …

Apart from Carrie, the main young lady of the day ……..

The bride herself! …….

The ceremony – view from the back of the room …… the kiss and they are just married (Congratulations!)…

All done, register signed …..& now the celebrations begin ….

A great time for the Children …….

Just married and time for the confetti …..

Some ‘quiet time’ for Carrie and Chris after the group shots …..

And even a bit of time for relaxing in the baths! …. Yes: TWO baths! …. careful with that beer Chris!

And some ‘family time’ together for Carrie, Chris and their Daughter …. I love this photo and I hope they will too!

Isn’t it funny how a gate always make you wonder what’s actually beyond!

A little later on we managed to go for little stroll around the grounds and along the lane …

Little bridge over the gentle river along-side the boundary for the Charlecote Deer Park ….

Evening time, the youngsters were beginning to flag a little!

Like many older buildings the hotel took on a different look at night time. Meanwhile the party got under way inside.

So that’s it for now! We had a great day and we know that Carrie and Chris did too!  I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at the photos we’ve put on this blog. These, of course, are not the only ones. In-fact, we took hundreds of photos during the day and we are still working on them. We’re sure that Carrie and Chris will love them when they see the full selection but it will take us a week or two since we’ve done several other weddings for other couples during August.

If you were at the wedding and you’d like to see more images I’ll be adding all of the edited images (many more) to the password-protected area of my main website. This probably won’t happen until next week (beginning Mon 13th Sept if all goes to plan). You will need to speak to Carrie or Chris to get the password. Prints can be bought from there if you wish.

Meanwhile, Please leave a comment to say what you think so far by clicking the link (in green) below …..

I recently attended this lovely, intimate wedding at the fabulous Billesley Manor Hotel near to Stratford upon Avon in Warwickshire. Sheiba and James specifically asked me to do some ‘low key wedding photography’ rather than taking time up doing set group shots etc. It was a real pleasure to share in their special day. I think I managed to keep a relatively low profile while capturing the joy and emotions of the day. Here’s a taster of the images I took…….

I think you’ll agree that Sheiba looked simply beautiful! James is a very lucky man! I feel very honoured to have been part of their special day and it was lovely to meet their guests. I decided to keep my comments for this post to a minimum ….. it seemed to fit in with the low key nature of my photography on the day. Hopefully, the images have done the talking for me!

…………

If you are thinking of getting married at Billesley Manor near to Stratford upon Avon or, in-fact, any other venue in the Warwickshire area please give me a call. I’d be glad to listen to your wishes and tailor a photography package to suit your needs. I’m equally happy with small or large wedding parties. Meanwhile, I welcome all constructive comments to this blog so please feel free to leave a comment by clicking on the link below.

From time to time I get asked to do weddings for other photographers. It was a real pleasure to take on the photography for Angie and Dominic who got married at Warwick Register office and then celebrated the rest of their day at the Saxon Mill just outside Warwick.

Angie and Dom were an absolutely lovely couple who responded well to the camera and had a very welcome laid back, easy going approach. Here’s a few taster images for them to look at. I’m sure they’ll be delighted with the photos and I’ll be processing the rest of the images and passing them on to the photographer who they booked with in the next day or two.

Best Man being nice to the Groom (For once!)

When I process images for my own clients or for other photographers I like to add a few effects. This shot lent itself perfectly to my ‘colour-popping’ technique.

Angie's Supporting team look fab!

First glimpse of Angie when she arrives

Warwick register office, like many others, have strict rules about what Photographers can and can’t do during the service. I always make sure I do the most I can without upsetting anybody! One shot I can take is the exchange of the rings ….

Dom hopes it fits!

Signing of the register

Here’s one of my trademark images. If guests are in my way I’ll make use of their image …. just a bit of fun!

Guests can be helpful with their cameras!

A very happy family! Angie, Dom and Heath

Some register offices have very little in the way of greenery to take nice outdoor photos. Warwick register office is one of the nicer ones ….

Whole group shot at Warwick Register Office

And yes, I do colour them all in! See below!

Confetti galore!

Some time alone!

The Saxon Mill gives some nice photo opportunities ….

Bridge at the Saxon Mill

Sorry Dom, all eyes on Angie!

Angie looked stunning on the day as I think you’ll agree in these shots.

Pooh Sticks, anyone?

A little time to reflect

I really enjoyed doing this wedding for Angie and Dom and their lovely guests. I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at these taster images. I’ll be passing all of these images and quite a few more onto their photographer for him to prepare their album (if that’s what they choose). Meanwhile, I hope this gives you more of a flavour of my style of photography.

If you know of anyone who needs a wedding photographer or a family portrait photographer in Warwickshire or anywhere in the Midlands I can also be booked directly under my own business name (Victoria Jane Photography) on 07739096632 or by email on vicky@victoriajanephotography.co.uk

I met Sally and Andy yesterday at their wedding venue in Honiley near to Kenilworth. We spent a couple of hours discussing their plans for their special day and the photographs they would like me to get. We had a good look at the church and took some practice shots to get them used to being in-front of the camera. They were naturals, great for a laugh with ideas of their own and I know that we’ll have a fantastic time when their wedding day arrives. As you can see from some of the images below, the camera loves them! I Can’t wait to see them on their wedding day and from what they were telling me I think their guests are in for a real treat!

Beautiful Little Church

Just Practising!

Its hard to keep the camera still when you're laughing so much!

Happy Couple!

Wrapped up warm!

Here you are Andy - you asked for it! - 'in joke!!'

Sally and Andy can view more of their images on the password protected area of my main website. Only they have the password. My website is www.victoriajanephotography.co.uk

On their wedding day my husband Gary and I will both be there. Gary often attends with a second camera and different set of lenses. This allows more photos from a variety of angles. He often also gets the informal shots, usually without guests even knowing he’s there! This is one of the advantages we offer compared to photographers who work completely on their own.

Philipp and Grace had a wonderful wedding day at Hampton Manor near to Solihull. It was a cold but bright day and such a lovely location for a wedding. Grace and Philipp made a lovely couple with Grace looking absolutely stunning in her dress.

Hampton Manor in Hampton in Arden

Wonderful location for a special wedding

First glimpse of Grace’s outfit – and a few special touches!

First glimpse of the dress ... Wow!

Guests from around the world enjoyed a lovely service conducted by the registrars from nearby Solihull. It’s always nice when we are given freedom to take pictures during the service…..but we don’t distract by using flash.

Grace and Philipp's Service

A cold day but the weather held for us. I absolutely love this photograph of Grace. It was extremely bright one minute and cloudy the next throughout the afternoon but the light in this one was just right!

A Gorgeous Bride!

A great time was had by all in the evening. It was really nice to see the cultural mix of German guests, New Zealanders and some of Grace’s family from the Philippines. Some great dancers were on show!

A Lovely First Dance

I’ve taken two weeks to go through the 1400+ images that Gary and I took on the day. I’ve chosen about 330 of my favourite images and put them on the password protected area of my website. If you were a guest at the wedding or if you know Grace and Philipp and you’d like to see the other photos please contact Grace. I’m afraid I won’t give out the password without her permission. I do this to protect the privacy of all my clients, especially where images of children are included.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this little taster of my wedding photography.
